Key Project Particulars

 

Globe completed feasibility study to proceed with refurbishment/extension in lieu of new build.



Obtained planning permission and discharged numerous planning conditions including floor plain constraints.

 

Provided new contemporary main entrance extension including platform lift and DDA compliant stair to allow wheelchair circulation around building despite split level site. Fire escape strategy compliant as a result of new conditions stair.

 

Existing building structure retained but new roof covering provided. Aluminium thermally performing windows and doors installed. Pitched roof insulated and walls dry lined internally to comply with Building Regulations and improve thermal performance.

 

New boiler house as part of new extension with efficient heating plant to serve refurbishment building.

 

New internal doors, ceilings, walls and floor finishes to provide modern interior fit out.

 

The Gables is directly adjoined to existing Medical Genetics building. The building remained in use throughout the works. The new boiler plant also served this part of the building and detailed interface/liaison was required to complete this.
