Key Project Particulars |
Globe was asked to create two new AMU 6 bed wards with ancillary accommodation and a new MRI suite, within the space occupied by an existing catering kitchen and a chapel which were relocated. Ancillary accommodation within the MRI included two disabled WC’s, male and female staff change, a nurse’s station and an office/store.
Work took place in a single storey ground floor building. The site was located adjacent to the hospital tower block and other taller multi-storey hospital buildings.
An external Service road provided direct access to the exterior area of the MRI building. The external facade of the building was overclad and a dedicated secure external chiller unit and plant area was created to specifically serve the MRI facility. This phased project saw a demolition contract (completed by others), which then left a clear open site for the ward bed bay spaces and MRI suite to be provided.
The work included all new internal floor finishes, suspended ceilings, partitions, wall claddings, sanitaryware and fitted furniture fixtures and fittings. A former roof light was waterproofed and insulated. New Mechanical and Electrical Services where provided throughout. The MRI suite incorporated the introduction of an RF faraday cage around the MRI scanner room. Confidential |
