Globe was part of a client assembled design team asked to develop a feasibility study to introduce a new MRI suite to Scunthorpe General Hospital, which was to connect to the existing MRI suite. The design included:

 

  • Consideration for limited and close spacing due to surrounding buildings and several existing fire escapes and escape routes.
  • Risk of fire spread between buildings due to close structures.
  • Designed with light brick colours at points of close walls.
  • Future replacement of the MRI and CT equipment.
  • The ability to deliver the new magnet by crane.
  • Review meetings with users to develop a schedule of accommodation and a proposed plan.
  • An external chiller unit and AHU were concealed by a feature Levolux screen.
  • Globe suggested a Noise Assessment to highlight any disturbance to adjacent wards
  • Globe outlined a specification for the proposed works which allowed Quantity Surveyors to do an outline cost estimate.
