Key Project Particulars |
Globe was asked to refurbish an existing vacant building at Louth County Hospital to create an MRI scanning suite. This building was scheduled for demolition but instead received a full refurbishment.
Louth County Hospital previously used a temporary MRI scanner as it did not have its own specialised unit. Globe’s design provided a modern and permanent solution for the MRI scanning facility which assists staff in providing the best care for their patients.
Externally Globe provided new windows and doors, new roof works where existing roof lanterns were removed, an external compound with a black security mesh fence and double door gate to contain service equipment.
Along with external works, Globe has delivered a full internal refurbishment comprising of modifications to the existing building layouts and new services.
As MRI scanning rooms include highly sensitive equipment such as the Magnetic Resonance Imaging scanner, it is important this equipment is contained within a specialist RF cage which blocks radio frequency electromagnetic radiation.
The client organised directly the new roof furnishings and rain water collection system, and where the rebuilding of the existing brick parapet wall where required. The client also organised the asbestos removal. |
